Dental Implants

At The Essex Dental Clinic, we strive for perfection with every implant we place – and it shows. These restorations are a popular and effective solution for patients with missing or damaged teeth.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium screw-like posts that secure permanently into the jawbone. The implant has an abutment piece that holds fixed or removable replacement teeth in place – depending on the patient’s unique needs, we can offer a bespoke dental crown, implant-supported dentures, or an implantsupported bridge. Our technology, expert technique, and team approach to dental care help every patient feel comfortable during their implant treatment.

Implant Treatment at The Essex Dental Clinic

Our dentist will:

  • Complete a thorough consultation and evaluation.
  • Use X-rays and our digital orthopantomogram (OPG) to help determine the best
    implant placement.
  • Administer local anaesthetic for patient comfort.
  • Prepare the implant site, which may involve removing damaged teeth.
  • Place the implant into the jawbone and cover it with a temporary restoration
    while the area heals.
  • Place the implant abutment following the healing period (approximately three to
    six months).
  • Take digital impressions, which the dental laboratory uses to create a custom,
natural-looking artificial tooth or appliance that fits just right.
  • Attach the crown or bridge in place, or teach the patient how to use a removable
    implant-supported denture.

The Advantages of Dental Implants

  • They look and feel like natural teeth, improving smile appearance and oral health.
  • These restorations prevent bone loss and preserve facial structure.
  • Implants can last decades with proper care (though restorative appliances need occasional replacement over the years).
  • Patients take care of implants just like their natural teeth – no special care is required.
